Australia closes highways for crabs!
November is Christmas Crab Breeding Month on Christmas
Island, Australia.Christmas Island is a small Australian island in the Indian Ocean 2,600 km northwest of Perth, home to many species of animals and plants. Christmas Island Red Crabs, an endemic species of land crab, migrate from coast to forest each year during the breeding season. More than 50 million adult red crabs are migrating to breed. The first wave of migration is led by males, followed by females. It takes about five or seven days for the crabs to return to the sea. Rain and wet cloudy conditions make their trek into the forests long and difficult. The island authorities then closed their highways for them. Authorities have even designed special bridges for their convenience.
This universe belongs to humans as well as animals. It would be a great tragedy if human activities deprived
animals of their right to live. The service rendered by the Australian authorities to crabs should be truly appreciated.
Um, lots of red crabs
