A story about another turning point in human history
If a similar event had taken place in biology, the discovery of the structure of DNA would have been similar to the discovery of the transistor in electronics, revolutionizing world history. 1953 James Watson and Francis Crick first observe the dual helix structure of the DNA molecule at the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, winning the Nobel Prize in 1962 for their story.
We all know that he is currently using DNA to solve crime.
So now it's been 30 years since DNA fingerprint technology was used to solve
crime. This method was first used in England. That's the story..
1983 was a year of terror in and around the city of
Lysershire, England. A 15-year-old girl named Linda Mann was murder.ed in a
nearby village when she was on her way home from school. However, the police
were able to obtain a sperm sample from the crime scene.
Two-and-a-half years after the incident, a 15-year-old girl
named Down Ashworth left the same village around 4:30 pm to go to her friend's
house, but she did not return home. Linda Mange, who was murdered like this
before. The body was found a few meters away, indicating that both incidents
were the work of a serial killer. The two murders had similarities and the
police were able to find a sperm sample. Several suspects were arrested during
the investigation, but the culprit remains unclear. He pleaded not guilty, but
because of the similarities between the two incidents, police believed the two
men may have committed the same murder, and according to Richard Buckland's
confession, if he had been convicted of the first murder, he would have been a
14 - year - old boy at the time. There was a reluctance to accept this
statement .
While this was going on, Alex Jeffries, a young scientist at
the University of Leicester, five miles northwest of the village, made a
remarkable discovery, one year after the first murder, in 1984. Of course it
was discovered by chance or by mistake. Alec Joffreis was studying the
hereditary flow of hereditary diseases, but he observed that the repetitive
units of DNA molecules in the cells he obtained could differ from one another
and thus identify its owner with great accuracy.
Alec Joffreis was studying the hereditary flow of hereditary diseases, but he
observed that the repetitive units of DNA molecules in the cells he obtained
could differ from one another and thus identify its owner with great accuracy.
That's how he invented
the DNA fingerprinting technology to identify people. This system had not
arrived. But that
was only until Alec Joffreys received an unexpected phone call from police
asking if this method could be used to unravel the mystery of the Lysershire
double murder .... That's
how Alec started his career.
DNA
comparison of suspect Buckland's blood samples and sperm samples taken at the
scene of the murder began.. According
to reports, the killer's search turned out to be even more difficult, meaning
that the sperm belonged to the same person, that is, that the killer was the
same person, and that Buckland's DNA did not match at all, meaning that the
killer was not Buckland. The result was the same. Accordingly, Buckland was
acquitted. The
search for the double killer resumed. The next plan was to collect DNA samples
from every person in the area. Two
blood sample collection centers were set up. Blood samples were collected three
days a week, morning and evening. . The
story of this massive operation to capture a murderer using a new scientific
method spread all over the country..beyond that all over the world..even in
international newspapers like New York times..this operation made
headlines..and more blood samples were collected..Finally 5,511 people Blood
samples from Kagan ..
But
the police fail again .. Again
not a single sample of sperm matched..there was not even 5,511..so who was the
killer..the investigation got even more difficult ..
But
one little incident sparked a rift to unravel the mystery more than a year
after Down Ashworth was assassinated.
Like
the fish that swims because of its mouth, the reason for this is one mouth..the
mouth of a drunkard in that bar .. In
August 1987, a young man named Kelly, who was drunk at a bar, claimed to have
donated blood on behalf of his friend "Colin Pitchfork" using a fake
ID, six weeks after the conversation. Informed the police and will take
immediate action. Kelly's
man and Colin Pitchfork were arrested. The blood test was repeated. The above
sperm samples and Colin's DNA matched.
Colin
Pitchfork was convicted in January and sentenced to life in prison.
In
addition to those two high-profile murders, he was also convicted of two other
rapes. While in
police custody, Colin Pitchfork was asked, "Why did the Aussies do such a
thing?"
"Opportunity ... she was there too. I was there too."
Thus,
for the first time in the history of the world, DNA technology was used in
forensic medicine to find the real culprit and save a convicted felon. In the 30 years since then, the
DNA of over 50 million people has been used in criminal investigations, and
Alec Joffreys' unique discovery has led to the acquittal and release of one
million people who went unpunished. Tell
me the most beautiful piece of the story ..
When
Alec Joffreys first said that he could use the DNA technology he had discovered
to solve crimes, everyone who heard it laughed at him..but today .. ??
Look
at the confidence that Alec Joffreys had in himself despite the ridicule of
others .. How far has the world come today to be thankful for that belief ..?
Alec
Joffreys was knighted in 1994 for his service to the world through this
discovery.
A few very valuable ideas
ReplyDeleteNot everyone tries to help another person when he discovers something new. Trying to bring that person down again. If we can change this, this world will be more beautiful💞
ReplyDeleteEveryone need to have a good self-confident. Then can we move forward.
